Telegraph Hill has some of the best views the city has to offer. From its
famous Coit Tower can be seen the Golden Gate, the Bay, the Bay Bridge and
the nearby neighborhoods. Its name comes from a Morse code signal station
of early years.
The Filbert Steps, with hillside gardens, benches and superb views are
rivaled by the steeper Greenwich Steps, complete with a band of parrots who
have their own colony there. At Bay level, the converted red brick warehouses
and Levi's Plaza provide shopping and dining.
