San Francisco's neighborhoods have always been diverse, and the emerging
Van Ness Corridor is a spectacular example. A recently completed renovation
of City Hall, along with the magnificently renovated theatres and movie
theatres of Van Ness, exist with some of the city's newest restaurants
and oldest resident hotels. Van Ness houses the Louis M. Davies Symphony
Hall, the Herbst Theater and the San Francisco Opera House.
The neighborhood also has The Great American Music Hall, site of legendary
Grateful Dead concerts in the 70s, and a variety of businesses started
by recent refugees from Southeast Asia.
